ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE contains the chromogenic substrate: 4-nitrophenyl phosphatedi (2-amino-2-ethyl-1,3-propanediol) salt that in the presence of alkaline phosphatase releases free 4-nitrophenol (yellow colour).
